Selin Kocagöncü composes game-like structures which are at times socially-engaged and at other times particularly personal. Teacher’s Dilemma is a cathartic drinking game dealing primarily with failure of communication.
About the Artist
Selin Kocagöncü is a transdisciplinary artist and teacher. She earned a BA from Wesleyan University in 2005 and is currently finishing her MFA thesis at Marmara University, Istanbul. She works as a faculty member at the Department of Plastic Arts in Okan University, Istanbul. Kocagöncü’s work has been shown at Siemens Art (Istanbul), Akbank Art Center (Istanbul), in multiple venues for The 1st YA Biennale Tarlabasi (Istanbul), On the Street 3 (Istanbul) and in House of Legacy for Real Presence 8 (Belgrade). Kocagöncü has also been engaged in street art, currently by repurposing street lanes through signage. She was born in Toronto, and lives and works in Istanbul.
