S.W.A.M.P
(Sound Waves About Miami Podcast)

S.W.A.M.P is a new monthly podcast that focuses on interviewing Miami musicians who are currently based in New York City and who have ties to noise. It provides a digital archive of the underground//alternative music scene that hails from Miami and its neighboring area and wishes to showcase its idiosyncratic identity within the US.

Each interview will be recorded live in front an audience at AC Institute and will be followed by a 30-min live set. The interviews will be posted online within the week for all to listen.

For its inaugural episode, host Maya Castro Gutiérrez will talk to artist and musician Nick Klein.

Having studied sculpture and performance in Miami, Nick Klein has largely dealt in relational and sound-based art since moving to New York, but has focused on the potential of a democratic dialogue platform through electronic music, scale in volume, and the active role of touring performer. Klein has toured most of the United States, as well as covering ground in Canada and throughout Europe. Along with Miguel Enrique Alvariño, he co-runs Brooklyn’s Primitive Languages label which started from a shipping container in Bushwick’s “Punk Alley”. Klein has released on L.I.E.S, Angoisse, BANK, Alter, Ascetic House, and Private Archive.
