Mine
Ana Bélen Cantoni
InstallationNovember 17 - December 3, 2011
Ana Bélen Cantoni explores the subject of architecture and its relationship to the body via drawings and installations. Her interest lies in the notion of there being a relationship of anxiety between what we recognize as our own body that which is not a part of it. The ways in which we physically and physiologically experience limits and how the body is contained, yet threatened by them, is a paradox that is central to her practice.
Mine creates vulnerable structures that contrast with the hard-edged interiors of the gallery. Catoni uses frayed clothing as her material both because of its relationship to skin and the way its shape is affected by gravity.
