Gravity, inversion of the matter
Sebastian Mahaluf
InstallationJune 30 - July 30, 2011
Geometry is the main object of research in Sebastian Mahaluf’s artistic practice. This refers not only to an analysis of sculptural and architectural shapes, but also the study of the body as a performance tool. In both elements, the artist focuses on simple or pure geometry in order to demonstrate the ephemeral objectivity of artistic production.
Gravity, inversion of the matter is a series of triangles constructed from silver elastic rubber bands hung from ceiling beams. In their totality, these triangles constitute an inverted volumetric structure that comments on the vulnerability of existence. Here the idea of protection is altered, subjected and put in another reality.
