FLAT OUT: Seek and Destroy
Jan Hakon Erichsen

Video
February 23 - March 6, 2012

In Seek and Destroy, a leather armchair is shot with a bow and arrow, hung from the ceiling, and then slaughtered like a wild animal.  Only the hunter’s hands and feet can be seen while he executes his actions with disturbing and cold determination.

This is one of several works where Jan Hakon Erichsen forces to viewer into feeling remorse for an inanimate object. Through slaughtering a chair, he seeks to question the way we look at the objects that surround us and the way we live in the modern world.
