Aqua Alta
China Blue

Installation
September 25 - October 18, 2008

Aqua Alta by China Blue is exhibited concurrently at the AC [Direct] in Chelsea, New York City and OPEN XI in San Servolo in Venice, Italy in conjunction with the architecture biennale.

Aqua Alta submerges the listener in the sounds of the water of Venice. Featured are the unique sounds of lapping water, cavitation from waves and various sonic sea life native to the lagoon that are threatened by global warming.

In San Servolo, Aqua Alta is positioned in a portico of the Benedictine monastery. Simultaneously exhibiting this work in a historical Venetian location and a hip Chelsea gallery effectively invokes thoughts on global warming and the impact of rising waters on the costal cities and cultural repositories throughout the world.

NYC installation is curated by Holly Crawford.

Venice installation is curated by Edward Rubin.
