In his work, Félix Lazo investigates problems of perception and cognition, namely how we connect to what our senses receive and how we find meaning within this information. Can one create an experience deep enough to transform our neuronal conditioning and present reality anew?

m:n:m::l is an interactive visual and audible installation. The visual systems are made up of two parts: origami boxes made of synthetic paper and placed within a grid as well as a digital projection that interacts with them. Interactive programs specifically created for the installation run the two visual systems, which are further modified by the environment’s sound movements.

About the Artist
Félix Lazo was born in Chile in 1957. He studied Biology at the University of Chile and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music from the Catholic University. In 1985 Lazo was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship, which enabled him to earn a Master of Arts in Music Education and also a Master of Education at Teacher’s College of Columbia University. From 2002 to 2003, Lazo studied Computer Music Composition at the Center of Musical Composition (CCMIX) in Paris at the studio of the famous French composer and music theorist Iannis Xenakis (1922 – 2001).
